FAQ

Can I wash my board?

Never soak or let water stand on a wooden board. ONLY hand wash with mild soaps and warm water.  Or wipe down with a wet paper towel. Remember to use a mineral oil or B+B Board Butter to keep your board in tip-top shape.

Can I cut on my board?

Do not cut seafood or poultry unless your board has a good layer of oil and board butter. Do your best not to cut in the same area. You can sand down cut lines but remember to use a mineral oil or B+B Board Butter to reseal the wood.

How often should I oil/butter
my board?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer since there are variables like how often you use your board, and how your board is finished. I recommend buttering your board once a month but if you are using it weekly, then 3-4 times a month. A board that is well-moisturized shows fewer knife marks and will last longer.

If your board is finished with a food-safe polyurethane, then you can only finish it with the same poly. If your board is finished with an oil, you can use a food-grade mineral oil. All of the B+B boards are finished with our hand-made wax base butter. This is a great repellent and natural anti-bacterial.

Will my board look like the picture?

No, and that’s why every board is one-of-a-kind! All wood is different, and since not every tree looks the same, the grain and color will vary. However, your item will be in the same style as depicted. We also have to may wood type substitutions based on what is in stock BUT we will match the wood type, color and grain as best as we can.
